Breeze Retires Its Last E190
Low-cost carrier Breeze this week officially retired the Embraer E190, completing the airline’s transition to an all-Airbus A220-300 fleet.
Breeze said its last E190 flight took place on Monday. It did not disclose the route it flew.
Breeze launched commercial service in 2021 with 10 E190s and three E195s. In the years since, it has gradually phased out its Embraer jets in favor of the A220-300, which has more interior space and is more fuel efficient.
As of Tuesday, the carrier has taken delivery of 55 A220s from a total order of 90, and has options for up to 30 more of the type.
“Our long-term strategy has always been to leverage the strengths and efficiencies of the Airbus A220-300 to help us cost-effectively scale our unique business model which centers around offering affordable, nonstop flights from unserved and underserved markets,” David Neeleman, Breeze’s founder and CEO, said in a news release. “That being said, the Embraer 190 literally got Breeze off the ground in 2021 and has served Breeze and our guests well – and so it is with a bit of nostalgia and a lot of gratitude that we bid farewell to our final E-Jet.”
The airline’s E195s were officially retired last year.
