Lufthansa Adds New U.S. Route Amid Summer 2027 Expansion
Lufthansa will add a new route to the U.S. Southwest as it expands its network for the summer of 2027.
The carrier said Tuesday that it will connect Munich and Phoenix, starting Aug. 3, 2027. The route will operate three times per week, on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, using Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
Lufthansa does not currently serve Phoenix or any destination in Arizona. Airlines officials said the new route will capitalize on ongoing growth in the Phoenix area.
“The new service will provide both business and leisure travelers with a convenient nonstop connection to Germany, as well as onward destinations across our global network,” Dirk Janzen, Lufthansa Group’s vice president of passenger sales for the Americas, said in a news release. “The U.S. is the most important market for Lufthansa, outside of our home markets, and the addition of Phoenix to our route network certainly displays our strong commitment to the region.”
Lufthansa announced earlier this week that it will also launch service from Frankfurt to Columbus, Ohio. That connection will come online in May 2027.
The airline will also add new routes to Tokyo-Narita and Dubrovnik, Croatia; resume flying between Frankfurt and Nagoya; and add frequencies to Cape Town, Rio de Janeiro, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Montreal.
